Senior Water Resources Planner

At Icon Water, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Planning Engineer to lead our project development and planning initiatives.
About the RoleThis role is responsible for planning and developing projects and programs of work to ensure that future capacity and service requirements are met. You will play a key role in supporting the development of an optimized 10-year program of work, by analyzing system performance, forecasting demand and system requirements, and recommending sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective projects and programs with robust business cases.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of program and project initiation documentation, including concept development statements, user requirements specifications, options assessments, and business cases.
- Project manage projects through the Envisage and Evaluate stages of the Investment Planning and Delivery (IPAD) process, engaging key stakeholders and technical advisors, consultants, and engineers as required.
- Ensure the quality and appropriateness of solutions proposed to the business by design engineers and consultants, considering all options, including non-infrastructure solutions.
- Develop project cost estimates and risk assessments in conjunction with engineering, strategy, project delivery, finance, maintenance, operations, and other key stakeholders.
- Manage project costs, schedules, risks, and issues throughout the initiation stages (Envisage and Evaluate Stages).
Our ideal candidate will possess:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering or Project Management.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies in line with the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
- Demonstrated sound knowledge of engineering and design processes, preferably in water and wastewater assets.
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in Project Management, technical report writing, and business case development roles.
- Site-based project experience.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs, including Microsoft Project.
The successful candidate will excel in negotiation, problem-solving, and time management, organizing tasks and engaging stakeholders while prioritizing and addressing challenges. They will also demonstrate excellent communication and writing skills, adapting their approach to suit various audiences and conveying clear, concise information.
