About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Carer to join our team at Southern Cross Care. As a Personal Carer, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality personal care to our residents, promoting their independence and dignity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with daily tasks and activities, personal care, and mobility
  • Work collaboratively with the team to develop and deliver person-centred care plans
  • Respectfully assist residents with meals and drinks to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience
  • Promote independence and confidence by encouraging residents to participate in activities
  • Support and nurture partnerships with residents, recognising their individual needs and preferences
  • Support residents to make choices about their lifestyle and activities of daily living, in line with their care plan
Requirements
  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or Certificate III in Aged Care
  • Demonstrated experience in a personal carer role, with the ability to work independently
  • Sound best practice personal and clinical care skills, with a focus on resident-centred care
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and colleagues
  • Sound time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload
  • Excellent understanding of the requirements to support residents living with dementia, including those who display challenging behaviours
