About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Home Care Assistant to join our team at Southern Cross Care. As a Home Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting older Australians to live better for life in their own homes.

Your key responsibilities will include building relationships with clients, understanding their individual needs, goals, and preferences, and delivering tailored support with daily tasks, activities, personal care, and mobility support.

You will work collaboratively with our team to provide high-quality care and support to our clients, helping them to live happy, healthy, and active lives.

About You

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of our residents and clients. To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate III in a relevant field (Individual Support (Ageing), Aged Care, or Home and Community Care)
  • A minimum of 6 months demonstrated experience in a personal carer role, with the ability to work without direct supervision
  • A First Aid certificate
  • Sound best practice personal care skills appropriate to the role
  • A good understanding of the requirements to support clients living with dementia, including those who display challenging behaviors
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with clients and their representatives
  • Basic cooking skills
  • A basic understanding of aged care packages (desirable)
