Payroll Officer Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our team in Rockhampton. As a key member of our payroll operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Strong computer skills and proven experience with Microsoft Office Suite (including word processing, and high proficiency in excel spreadsheets).
  • Knowledge and understanding of Australian salary, superannuation, taxation, salary sacrifice, salary packaging and best practice.
  • Excellent time management skills including the ability to plan, set priorities and meet deadlines combined with the flexibility to alter priorities to meet changing deadlines.
  • Proven attention to detail and the ability to solve problems and use good judgement.
  • Previous experience working within a large human resource and payroll operating system.
  • Strong financial literacy with the ability to interpret and analyze payroll data, reconcile accounts, and apply sound financial judgement in decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply and interpret Enterprise Agreements (EA) and legislation in conjunction with payroll and financial processes to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Well-developed oral, interpersonal, and written skills with a focus on the provision of quality customer service.

Requirements:

  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Relevant qualifications in a field such as human resources, accounting, or finance.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a payroll or human resource role.
