We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated medical professional to join our team as a Fellow in Medical Oncology.
Job Description
This prestigious fellowship provides comprehensive clinical and research training under the supervision of a highly experienced team of oncologists, offering a rich and diverse training environment in regional Victoria.
- Participate in oncology clinics 4 days/week, including outreach clinics to Horsham or Stawell (fortnightly), providing hands-on experience in patient care and treatment planning.
- Engage in a wide range of multidisciplinary meetings, contributing to collaborative decision-making and advancing knowledge in breast, upper GI, colorectal, urological, thoracic, neuro-oncology, gynaecological, skin cancer, and head & neck cancers.
- Attend consultant ward rounds 2–3 times/week, fostering relationships with senior clinicians and staying up-to-date with best practices.
- Contribute to after-hours on-call and weekend ward round rosters, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to patient care.
- Undertake independent research with mentorship, exploring innovative solutions and contributing to the development of new treatments.
- Participate in teaching, sharing knowledge and expertise with junior doctors and medical students from the University of Melbourne and Deakin University.
- Attend academic forums, including Journal Club, M&M meetings, and the Victorian Medical Oncology Training Group education series, remaining current with the latest developments in the field.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Advanced training in medical oncology, preferably with completion of a fellowship program.
- Demonstrated expertise in cancer diagnosis, treatment, and management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage competing demands.
