Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced or aspiring coding expert to join our team. The successful candidate will support coders at Werribee Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospital for Women in Heidelberg, with a focus on quality and documentation improvement.

The role offers variety and professional development, with responsibilities including audits, training units, education development, and projects as they arise. You will work across all 20 specialties, ensuring accuracy and optimal funding, and provide ongoing education for the coding team.

This is a full-time permanent role, with the option for part-time or job share. The base site will be either Werribee or Heidelberg, with remote cross-campus work and work-from-home options available.

  • Audits across all 20 specialties
  • Supporting trainee coders and providing ongoing education
  • Diverse and challenging casemix, including NICU and ICU
  • Rapid expansion of Werribee Mercy Hospital
  • Supported by a friendly team of Coding Educators, CDIS, and a Senior Clinical Coder

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

">
  • Minimum 3 years experience in coding, ideally with exposure to a diverse casemix
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10-AM Australian Coding Standards and NFM principles
  • Relevant tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in Health Information Management
  • Eligible for full membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA)
  • High attention to detail and a passion for coding quality
