About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate to join our team at Avant Law in Sydney, Australia. As a Senior Associate, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality legal advice and services to our members and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver Expert Legal Advice: Provide timely and effective legal advice to our members and clients on professional conduct matters, including medical board investigations, coronial inquests, and Medicare reviews.
  2. Represent Members in Legal Proceedings: Represent our members in legal proceedings, including court, tribunals, and inquiries, and advocate for their interests.
  3. Provide Medico-Legal Advice: Provide general medico-legal advice to our members and clients on a range of matters, including professional conduct, medical negligence, and criminal law.
  4. Participate in Roster: Participate in a roster for providing telephone medico-legal advice to our members and clients, including occasional after-hours availability.
Requirements
  1. Relevant Qualifications: Hold relevant tertiary legal qualifications and be eligible to hold an unsupervised practising certificate as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia.
  2. Post-Admission Experience: Have demonstrated post-admission experience (ideally over 5 years) in medical negligence, professional conduct-related litigation, and criminal law.
  3. Excellent Communication Skills: Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to express ideas effectively.
  4. High-Level Prioritisation and Time Management: Demonstrate high-level prioritisation, time management, and self-management skills.
  5. Mentorship and Support: Have the ability to mentor and support junior team members.
  6. Computer Literacy: Possess good computer literacy and competency to work in an electronic document management environment.
