About this Role:

The Queensland Department of Education is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Manager, Regulation.

As a key member of the Licensing team, you will provide leadership and direction to the regulatory officers within the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority.

Your primary responsibility will be to make statutory decisions as it applies to the licensing of early childhood education and care services, guided by Regulating for Quality.

You will also support regional office regulatory officers across Queensland with licensing decisions relevant to early childhood education and care services.

This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to identify risk and emerging issues and provide advice and solutions.

In addition, you will have previous experience managing a team and complex matters, and be able to oversee recommendations and decisions, providing high-quality guidance and training to the team to ensure quality, defensibility, and consistency.

You will be responsible for anticipating risk, responding to issues and trends through data analysis to develop innovative solutions and drive operational planning, resource allocation, and scheduling.

Key areas include guiding individuals and the team in the application of risk-based regulatory frameworks, identifying and rectifying issues and gaps in guidance and tools.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Licensing team's regulatory officers within the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority.
  • Making statutory decisions as it applies to the licensing of early childhood education and care services, guided by Regulating for Quality.
  • Supporting regional office regulatory officers across Queensland with licensing decisions relevant to early childhood education and care services.
  • Anticipating risk, responding to issues and trends through data analysis to develop innovative solutions and drive operational planning, resource allocation, and scheduling.
  • Guiding individuals and the team in the application of risk-based regulatory frameworks, identifying and rectifying issues and gaps in guidance and tools.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a regulator or decision maker in accordance with the principles of good administrative decision making.
  • Demonstrated great time management and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to identify risk and emerging issues and provide advice and solutions.
  • Previous experience managing a team and complex matters.
