The University of Sydney is seeking a distinguished academic to enhance research excellence and contribute to high-quality teaching outcomes in its School of Architecture, Design and Planning.


With an international profile and reputation with a significant academic profile in higher education nationally and internationally, the successful candidate will have a strong interest in research-led teaching in architecture.


They will maintain a high standing for academic excellence through original, innovative, and distinguished contributions to scholarship and research. This role involves research and academic leadership within architecture, as well as teaching in architecture programs, research student supervision, and undertaking research or research-led practice that advances architecture and its contribution to humanity.


Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and enhance the university's research profile and reputation by coordinating and engaging in high-quality teaching and learning experiences that meet the expectations and standards for education.
  • Provide thought leadership within the discipline, community, and professional sectors by upholding and striving to enhance the university's reputation and profile.
  • Uphold and enhance the research profile and reputation of the institution through outstanding research demonstrated by high-impact research outcomes.

About You
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully obtaining competitive grants and collaborating with professional practice, industry, institutional, and governmental stakeholders most relevant to their area/s of expertise.
  • Outstanding record in research demonstrated by high-impact research outcomes, and a proven ability to attract and supervise outstanding postgraduate research students and professional research staff.

Requirements
  • PhD in Architecture or a related field with an international profile and reputation with a significant academic profile in higher education nationally and internationally.
  • Strong interest in research-led teaching in architecture with a demonstrated ability to coordinate and engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences that meet the university's expectations and standards for education.
  • Proven ability to attract and supervise outstanding postgraduate research students and professional research staff, and provide thought leadership within the discipline, community, and professional sectors.
