Empowering Students through Inclusive Learning

The Inclusion and Disability Specialist role is focused on creating an inclusive learning environment within the school. This involves working closely with classroom teachers to develop and implement effective adjustments and processes to support students with disabilities.
This specialist will work collaboratively with the student wellbeing team to provide targeted support to students with disabilities, focusing on developing positive social skills, body safety, and resilience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Auditing and adapting current school-wide inclusive education practices, including policies, processes, and programs
- Coordinating Disability Inclusion profile meetings and supporting all necessary stakeholders through the process
- Providing evidence-based professional learning to school staff relevant to the objectives of the role
- Liaising with the school's Student Support Services key contact and Regional Disability Co-ordinator
- Supporting the development of high-quality Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, incorporating student and parent voice in setting learning targets
- Building staff capacity to understand and implement evidence-based teaching and learning strategies to support all student learning, including students with additional needs
- Acting as a source of advice for staff on differentiated teaching strategies appropriate for individual students with additional needs
- Collaborating with the Assistant Principal to lead the identification and collection of students to be included in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data to better understand the needs of students with disability and how they can be best supported
- Making a significant contribution as a member of the school Leadership team to support the implementation of the AIP and SSP
