Canteen Manager

Our school seeks a highly skilled Canteen Manager to oversee canteen operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong coordination and management skills, ensuring a safe and efficient food service for students.

  • The Canteen Manager will be responsible for coordinating and managing canteen operations, including ordering resources, rostering staff, and maintaining records;
  • Respond to enquiries from staff, students, parents, and the public, addressing issues in accordance with routines and procedures;
  • Prepare and process transactions within established routines and procedures;
  • Maintain the canteen through duties such as ordering expendable stores, recording stock levels, and responsibility for keys;
  • Liaise between the school, students, and their families where discretion and judgment are involved.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Organising rosters for parent assistance;
  • Making orders to suppliers;
  • Accounts and invoices checked and authorised for payment;
  • Passing on all invoices to the Principal;
  • Coordination of canteen and catering for school events as required and directed by the Principal;
  • Promoting healthy eating guidelines and policy;
  • Liaising with the Principal to produce a canteen menu that reflects the 'Healthy Eating Policy' of the school.

  • Providing quality service in a timely manner to colleagues, students, and parents;
  • Maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion and sound judgment;
  • Acting in a professional and respectful manner at all times;
  • Complying with Framework for Accreditation of Staff in Catholic Schools;
  • Employment is conditional upon successful applicants having or obtaining a valid NSW Working with Children Check Clearance;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Able to lead volunteers effectively;
  • Maintaining high personal cleanliness and hygiene standards;
  • Responsibility for banking canteen monies regularly;
  • Following established procedures for co-signing daily takings;
  • Arranging for repairs and maintenance of canteen equipment;
  • Participating in annual reviews of this position description and canteen operations;
  • Providing updates to the school Principal regarding financial records.
