Director of Student Affairs

About the Role
The Director of Student Affairs is a proactive leader responsible for the effective day-to-day operation of the School, planning and communicating organisational and administrative aspects, as well as community events in a timely manner with team members, students and families. A major responsibility is the creation of a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for students, their families and visitors. The Director of Student Affairs will know each student; their stories and backgrounds and engage with parents in a supportive, compassionate and empathetic manner. This role assists in maintaining learning environments that spark students' curiosity and desire to learn.
The Director of Student Affairs works in support of the Director of Students to embed and uphold whole school processes and policies specifically related to operational, governance, child protection, work health and safety, and student duty of care matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement student-related policies and procedures
- Provide pastoral care and support to students
- Lead and manage the student affairs department
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure student well-being
- Monitor and report on student behavior and performance
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary degree and teaching qualification
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Proven experience in developing innovative academic pathways
- Proven experience in pastoral care and student support
- Proven experience in managing complex behavioral issues
- Proven experience in supporting student mental health
- Able to work collaboratively with other staff members and lead others
- PYP experience or an understanding of inquiry pedagogy
- Able to implement initiatives and manage change effectively
- Administrative and organisational skills
- Communication and interpersonal skills
