Role Summary:

An analytical chemist is responsible for conducting laboratory analyses to ensure the quality of products and materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine and specialized analytical tests to determine the chemical composition of materials, including raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
  • Operate various analytical instruments such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography-flame ionization/mass spectrometry (GCFID/MS), Karl Fischer titration, dissolution apparatus, ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.
  • Prepare buffers, mobile phases, reagents, and media needed for analysis.
  • Evaluate test results and make recommendations based on specifications.
  • Investigate and resolve analytical lab testing discrepancies, including out-of-specification (OOS), out-of-trend (OOT), and atypical data.
  • Apply department policies, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Follow standard operating procedures, global methods, local methods, and published standards or compendiums.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of analytical instrumentation, techniques, and principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and reporting skills.
