Job Title: Geology Technician

We are currently seeking a skilled Geology Technician to join our team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the Geology team through task allocation and resource management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Open Pit Operations: Assist in carrying out open pit related tasks as required by the Mine Geology Supervisor or delegated Leading Hands.
  • Field QAQC: Conduct Field Quality Control and Assurance mass balance test work programs, including capturing drill samples, weighing, recording data, and submitting for analysis.
  • Core Yard Duties: Execute core orientation, magnetic susceptibility, specific gravity, hardness testing, photography of drill core, and geotechnical activities to deliver required objectives and outputs.
  • Sampling and Preparation: Carry out core cutting and sampling while ensuring quality control protocols are followed, and assist in sample preparation for onsite laboratory analysis.
  • Assistance and Support: Provide assistance to other departments as directed by the Leading Hand: Geology or Mine Geology Supervisor, and carry out weekly stock takes on consumables and supplies.
  • Maintenance and Operation: Operate computers to generate, update, and maintain geological data files, operate and maintain equipment related to geological resourcing requirements, and install and pick up Blast Monitors or Blast Vector Indicators (BVI) for blast monitoring activities when requested.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with geological data collection and analysis software.
  • Experience with operating geological equipment such as drills, cameras, and scanners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
