Our residential care program provides a safe and supportive environment for children and young people in our care. The role of the Residential Care Worker is to participate in the daily operation of the unit, responding to the young person's emotional and functional needs, developing their personal skills, and managing administrative and household duties.

The position works across a 24-hour roster and can involve day, evening, weekend sleepover, and overnight stand-up work. This requires flexibility and a commitment to providing high-quality care to our clients.

About this role:

The Residential Care Worker will be responsible for participating in the daily operation of the unit, including meal preparation, cleaning, and maintaining a safe and healthy living environment. They will also be involved in developing and implementing individualized plans for each young person in our care.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing direct care and support to young people in our care
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to decision-making processes
  • Developing and implementing individualized plans for each young person
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports as required

Required qualifications and skills:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care) or a similar qualification in Youth Work
  • Experience supporting young people as a youth worker
  • Knowledge of trauma and its impact on development and behavior
  • A genuine interest in young people's wellbeing
  • Empathy for young people in our care, demonstrated in an open-minded and nonjudgmental manner
  • Strong emotional self-regulation skills, including setting and maintaining boundaries for safety and stability
