Maintenance Planner Job

The Maintenance Planner role is a key position in our organization, responsible for planning and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure the optimal availability of mobile equipment at our site.

Job Highlights:

  • Develop, update, and manage preventive maintenance schedules for mobile equipment.
  • Plan and coordinate corrective, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and impact on operations.
  • Track progress, close out jobs, and update maintenance histories.
  • Ensure parts, tools, and labor are available before scheduled maintenance.
  • Liaise with warehouse, procurement, and workshop teams to avoid delays.
  • Monitor accurate records of all maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with OEM recommendations, safety protocols, and legal standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and manage maintenance schedules to ensure optimal equipment availability.
  2. Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize downtime and optimize operational efficiency.
  3. Prioritize tasks and manage multiple maintenance jobs simultaneously.
  4. Track progress and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.

Requirements:

  • Technical degree in mechanical engineering, maintenance or related field.
  • University degree in mechanics or electricity would be an advantage.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in mobile equipment maintenance (mining trucks, loaders, excavators, heavy vehicles).
  • Experience in a planning or scheduling role or demonstrated ability to step into a planning position.

Desirable Skills:

  • Ability to develop maintenance schedules and job plans.
  • Skilled in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Understanding of mobile equipment systems (e.g. engines, hydraulics, electrical, drive trains).
  • Familiarity with OEM manuals and service guidelines.
