About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Compliance Senior Associate to join our team at MECCA Brands Pty Ltd. As a key member of our compliance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring our products meet regulatory standards across diverse markets.

In this role, you will be responsible for verifying that all MECCA Brands' products align with the specific regulatory requirements of each region they are sold in. This includes meticulously reviewing product artwork to authenticate claims, evaluating formulations in line with AICIS, SUSMP, and Customs regulations, and guiding brands through the complexities of Australian and New Zealand compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with international and local brands to obtain and review all required product information, including ingredient listings, packaging claims, and other relevant documents.
  • Review products to ensure they comply with all AU and NZ laws and requirements in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Obtain evidence necessary to ensure product claims can be substantiated and products are accurately represented.
  • Lead AICIS Ingredient categorisation and submissions.
  • Take a lead role in some team functions/responsibilities, such as AICIS-related processes and process improvement, reporting, product quality management, cosmetovigilance/pharmacovigilance.
  • Identify and advise on required product changes to meet laws and/or regulations and work closely with the brand and Merchandise team to ensure required changes are actioned.
  • Implement and manage ongoing quality risk assessment and auditing processes.
  • Process and system improvement.
  • Answer queries and provide compliance support to multiple business departments.
  • Develop and deliver compliance education modules for stakeholders.
  • Undertake product category research and review relevant legislation for new and high-risk product categories.
  • Liaise with brands to investigate consumer complaints or queries.
  • Support the team in managing identified compliance risks and take the lead depending on the level of risk identified.
  • Maintain accurate and complete Centric product data.
  • Provide guidance, advice, mentorship, and support for team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Assist with issues management as needed.
About You

You will have a good understanding of Australian and New Zealand regulatory requirements for the products that MECCA sells, such as cosmetic and personal care products and general consumer goods. You will have an affiliation with beauty and a passion for sustainability, but most importantly, live the MECCA values.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Science (preferably formulation sciences, chemistry, or other relevant degree).
  • Ideally at least 7 years' experience in Regulatory affairs/product compliance type role, preferably in the cosmetic industry.
  • People leadership experience is highly regarded.
  • Experience dealing with government regulatory bodies (e.g. ACCC, AICIS, TGA).
