Key Leadership Role in Cancer Prevention

As a seasoned Team Leader, you will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for cancer prevention policy and programs in Victoria.

This critical role involves overseeing the implementation of national population-based screening programs and cancer prevention initiatives, while contributing to state and national policy development.

You will lead the planning and delivery of strategic initiatives in cancer prevention and early detection under the Victorian Cancer Plan 2020-24, as well as manage operational support for the team, including budget management and corporate reporting.

The position requires forming strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including contract management with funded agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a high-performing team in providing expert advice and recommendations consistent with organisational goals and values.
  • Manage resource allocation within the work area to achieve service delivery goals and expectations.
  • Supervise and provide leadership to a team of employees by modelling good people management practices and building positive relationships with peers and stakeholders.
  • Resolve complex operational problems and issues experienced by team members.
  • Develop policy initiatives that meet government and departmental objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
  • Monitor and report on high-priority issues, risks and trends, and prepare and present reports, ministerial briefs, Cabinet submissions.
