Job Overview

Are you a civil engineering professional looking for a challenging leadership role in the maintenance and upkeep of public infrastructure?

This pivotal position requires strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and a passion for team management to oversee construction, civil maintenance delivery, fleet strategy, and operational excellence across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team to ensure effective management and maintenance of civil infrastructure, roads, drainage, footpaths, and fleet.
  • Oversee Civil Maintenance, Civil Projects, Fleet Acquisition, and Fleet Maintenance teams to ensure high service levels.
  • Manage operational and capital works projects to enhance the city's presentation and infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement, asset management, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans for works impacting the community.
  • Drive a proactive approach to asset and fleet management, including planning for acquisitions, disposals, and maintenance.
  • Ensure all operations comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and policies.
  • Prepare and present reports with recommendations on business unit operations.
  • Review, update, and manage the Fleet Management Plan, ensuring optimal operations and asset longevity.

Requirements

Applicants should have tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or significant experience in civil construction and maintenance. Strong written and verbal English communication skills are essential, along with valid working rights in Australia.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in civil maintenance and construction, ensuring compliance with WHS standards.
  • Expertise in fleet and asset management, procurement, and contract administration.
  • A demonstrated track record in managing large, complex teams.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate teams.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • A commitment to customer service, safety, and operational excellence.
