Job Title: Project Finance Specialist

Job Description:

This role involves supporting the financial management of significant capital projects within a large public sector environment. As a Project and Asset Accountant, you will contribute to improved business practices, enhance ICT systems, and strengthen internal controls that underpin the effective delivery of infrastructure investments.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Build partnerships with internal teams and external stakeholders for smooth project execution and client service.
  2. Validate capital project accruals by ensuring alignment with invoicing for accurate financial records.
  3. Collaborate with asset accountants and quantity surveyors to guide asset capitalisation in line with policies.
  4. Contribute to improving financial management practices during the engagement.
  5. Support ICT system enhancements and internal controls to optimise infrastructure investments.
  6. Prepare detailed financial reports on cashflows, accruals, and asset accounting for senior management review.
  7. Participate in team meetings to address project finance and asset management issues.
  8. Perform additional duties as needed, showcasing adaptability to evolving project requirements.
  9. Communicate complex financial information effectively to support informed decision-making.
Requirements:
  1. A tertiary qualification in finance, accountancy, commerce, or economics.
  2. Hands-on experience with SAP or similar financial systems.
  3. Expertise in infrastructure financial management, including knowledge of project cashflows, accruals processes, and asset accounting policies.
  4. Advanced Excel skills to compile, analyse, and interpret large datasets for insightful financial reporting.
  5. Proven experience supporting or managing capital projects, with familiarity in budgeting, funding programs, and performance monitoring best practices.
  6. Exceptional analytical skills to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
  7. Strong organisational abilities to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  8. Effective communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  9. A positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
