Ecologist Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our Ecology & Biodiversity team in North Queensland. This role involves working on projects across QLD and Australia, collaborating with like-minded professionals, and contributing to important environmental initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Delivering high-quality service and advice to clients and colleagues in both office-based and fieldwork activities.
  2. Participating in field survey programs to collect ecological data.
  3. Applying environmental legislation to projects across various sectors.
  4. Developing technical reports detailing the outcomes of field survey programs and their implications for environmental impact assessment and management.
  5. Managing projects, including invoicing, budget tracking, and proposal preparation.
  6. Maintaining strong relationships with key clients to contribute to business growth.
  7. Mentoring junior staff and leading field trips.
  8. Integrating technical work into multidisciplinary assessments and project teams.
  9. Conducting independent studies, analyses, interpretations, conclusions, and decisions, and preparing reports outlining findings.

Requirements:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, or a related field.
  • At least 6 years' experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or an equivalent role in Government, including undertaking ecological surveys and report production.
  • Experience in designing and implementing flora and fauna field surveys and monitoring programs.
  • Excellent flora and fauna identification skills.
  • Mature report writing and computer skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality written material for publication.
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proven project management experience in relation to client management and budget control.
