About the Role
The NSW Department of Communities and Justice is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Officer to join our team. As a Youth Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of young people into society.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support young people in custody, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
- Respond to challenging situations and maintain a safe and secure environment for young people and staff.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement programs that promote the skills and well-being of young people.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that support the rehabilitation and reintegration of young people.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- Meet citizenship or residency requirements.
- Possession of a minimum Provisional 2 NSW driver's licence.
- National Background Police Check.
- NSW Working with Children Check Clearance.
- Possession or willingness to obtain the 'Provide First Aid Certificate' (HLTAID003).
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Medical and Fitness Assessment to determine fitness for duty.
