**Apprentice Chef Role Overview**

Sofitel Melbourne On Collins is a luxurious hotel in the heart of Melbourne, offering an exceptional culinary experience. As an Apprentice Chef, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic and fast-paced kitchen environment.

Our team of experienced chefs and mixologists deliver world-class dining experiences while overlooking the city skyline. The hotel's commitment to arts and culture makes it an exciting place to work, with rotating art exhibitions and a thriving arts scene.

The role involves assisting the team in preparing high-quality food for all service periods, including à la carte, buffet, room service, and functions. You will gain exposure to various service styles and rotate through different kitchens, including restaurants, events, and pastry.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about food and cooking, reliable, and punctual with an eye for detail. It is essential that you are currently studying or enrolled to study in 2025, willing to learn from experienced chefs, and able to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the team with food preparation and presentation for all service periods
  • Exposure to various service styles
  • Rotation through different kitchens
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment
  • Liaise with Food and Beverage Attendants
  • Preparation of food and mise en place
  • Work according to a daily production sheet
  • Keep close control of portion size and wastage
