**Lead Indigenous Programs Coordinator**

The Australian National Maritime Museum seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to coordinate the planning, programming, and delivery of exhibitions, public programs, and digital content focused on First Nations experiences.

This key role involves managing multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring the incorporation of Indigenous knowledges and perspectives across the Museum.

Key duties include:

  • Ensuring all aspects of First Nations programs are well managed and meet milestones
  • Assisting in delivering outreach, collection, documentation, interpretation, and exhibition activities involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander experiences
  • Supporting the Head, Indigenous Programs in liaising with other First Nations peoples internationally
  • Representing the Museum in public forums, conferences, cultural institutions networks, and Indigenous communities

The successful candidate will possess strong project management skills, knowledge of best practice in Indigenous engagement, and experience in public engagement, media, conferences, presentations, and/or digital outreach.

An undergraduate qualification in anthropology, archaeology, Aboriginal studies, or museum and heritage studies, along with relevant experience in museums, the cultural sector, or the university system, is required.

This position is open to eligible members of the community, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. To be an eligible member of the community, you must be an Australian citizen.
