ASC, a leading Australian defence industry player, offers a unique career opportunity for a Nuclear Capability and Compliance Specialist to join its team in Adelaide, South Australia. This role is part of the company's pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program, which involves the delivery of an essential sovereign capability for Australia.
The Nuclear Capability and Compliance Specialist will play a pivotal role in establishing a robust framework for people, culture, and process within ASC's nuclear operations. The successful candidate will coordinate and create comprehensive approved governance structures and assurance working arrangements that ensure compliance and operational integrity.
This position requires strong technical leadership and support skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. The Nuclear Capability and Compliance Specialist will be responsible for defining core capability requirements tailored to each licensing phase, facilitating a clear understanding of necessary competencies and resources, and ensuring the 'right nuclear culture' for the people undertaking the work.
The role includes input into, definition, and monitoring of the cultural transformation of the enterprise by promoting the 'Nuclear Mindset' (core values from the Australian Submarine Agency) to foster the right behaviours for a nuclear environment. Additionally, the specialist will work within the Nuclear and Capability Department (NCD), coordinating external activities with other Shipbuilder and external stakeholders, including internal Shipbuilder NSQEP, Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI), ASA, and the Australian Nuclear Regulator on all nuclear-related activities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nuclear engineering or a related field, with experience coordinating with a team of technical personnel in complex industrial environments. They will also possess knowledge of systems engineering and 'requirements management' principles, as well as excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Self-motivation, effective time management, planning, and organisational skills are essential for this role, which involves managing multiple stakeholders and priorities simultaneously.
The salary for this role is estimated to be around $150,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. This figure is based on the title, job description, and location, and reflects the senior nature of the position.
