About the Role:
A high-profile infrastructure and building projects estimator is needed to lead the preparation of accurate and timely submissions.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed tenders and budget proposals.
Participate in pre-tender strategy meetings and coordinate internal resources effectively.
Conduct quantity take-offs using Australian Standard Methods of Measurement.
Analyse subcontractor and supplier pricing, clarifications, and exclusions thoroughly.
Build strong relationships with subcontractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
Visit project sites to assess conditions and methodology for project success.
Present tender reviews to senior management with clarity and detail.
Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge and continuously assess estimating practices for improvement.
Support junior estimators and contribute to team development through mentorship.
Assist with post-tender clarifications, scope changes, and project handovers efficiently.
Post-project reviews help refine future estimating strategies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years' experience in estimating within both the building and infrastructure sectors.
Rail sector experience is highly regarded.
Degree in Construction Management, Building, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related field is necessary.
Strong working knowledge of estimating software (e.g., Cubit, Buildsoft, Bartender).
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Project.
Experience working with clients such as TFNSW, Sydney Trains, QLD Rail – highly desirable
Ability to interpret complex tender documentation including drawings, specs, and schedules.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Superb communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively.
