About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Test Automation Lead to join our Quality Engineering Practice at Tyro Payments Limited. As a key member of our team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our Test Automation Roadmap and driving innovation across API, mobile, frontend, performance, and security testing.

As a Test Automation Lead, you'll have the opportunity to architect, design, and build cutting-edge test automation frameworks that empower our engineering teams. You'll also manage and mentor a team of talented engineers, collaborate closely with tech leads and architects, and elevate automation across Tyro.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage a backlog of test automation initiatives, ensuring a steady stream of prioritized work for the automation practice.
  • Define and implement the organization's tooling strategy, focusing on API, data, mobile, frontend, performance, and security.
  • Build reusable frameworks for mobile automation, covering Android, iOS apps, and payment terminals.
  • Enhance CI/CD practices by integrating automated testing into every build using Jenkins and Buildkite.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Test Automation Engineers and Graduate Quality Engineers to deliver high-impact results.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Senior Automation QE or Test Automation Lead, with a passion for building test automation frameworks that enhance both speed and quality.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with engineers, architects, delivery managers, and stakeholders, while embedding quality throughout the development lifecycle.
  • A proactive approach to driving automation across all aspects of software development and identifying key opportunities for its application.
  • Confidence to challenge existing ideas and continuously improve automation strategies and processes.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and testing in a cloud-based environment, with experience working in AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with API, UI, and mobile test automation frameworks, along with a deep knowledge of testing methodologies and tools.
