Job Title: Finance Professional

The council strives for operational excellence through effective financial management. It prioritises delivering meaningful outcomes by leveraging its dedicated team and resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently process and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with a focus on accuracy.
  • Maintain and reconcile financial records and ledgers on a regular basis to ensure compliance and data integrity.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial reporting and audits as required, adhering to local government standards and legislation.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, legislative requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve finance-related queries efficiently.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance team and processes, fostering a culture of excellence.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications in Accounting or a related field.
  • Previous experience in transactional finance or a similar finance officer role, preferably within local government or the public sector.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
  • Familiarity with local government accounting practices and relevant legislation is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small finance team.
  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
