About the Position

We seek an experienced Deck Watchkeeper to join our transhipment operation in Western Australia.

The ideal candidate will have experience operating deck and mooring equipment, performing duties similar to those on a blue water vessel but without traditional navigational responsibilities.

This role requires candidates who are comfortable working in hot weather environments, particularly in the North West region of Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bridge and navigation duties under the direction of the Master
  • Deck operations and functions
  • Inspection and maintenance of lifesaving and firefighting equipment
  • Monitoring, maintenance, and inspection of deck machinery and equipment
  • Undertaking cargo watch and ballasting duties
  • Administering medical stores inventory
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Marine Order 71 - Watchkeeper Deck qualification
  • At least 18 months of documented qualifying sea service on vessels 500 gross tonnage
  • 12 months of this service must be on voyages of at least 24 hours duration
  • 6 months must be served as an understudy to the officer in charge of a navigational watch or in an equivalent watchkeeping role
  • Certificate of Safety Training (STCW)
  • Work Safely at Heights Certification
  • Enter and Work in Confined Space Certification
  • Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
  • Australian citizenship or unlimited working rights in Australia
  • Residency in Australia
  • Comfortable wearing a respirator
