Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Hotel Sommelier to collate and maintain a wine list for the restaurant, bar and other food and beverage outlets.
  • Assist the Hotel Sommelier to order, collect, check and put away stock.
  • Organise wines prior to and during service.
  • Maintain a well-stocked cellar and wine cool room, storing wines in the appropriate manner.
  • Provide guests with clear, helpful advice and recommendations of products to enhance the dining experience.
  • Maintain positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships.
  • Handle guest enquires in a courteous and efficient manner and report guest complaints or problems to supervisors if there is no immediate solution.
  • Show passion for wines and willingness to learn about wine and drinks or sommelier related studies.

Requirements:

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Hold a current NSW RSA Certificate.
  • Demonstrate strong food and beverage service skills.
  • Show sufficient experience as waiting staff or assistant sommelier in a fine dining restaurant or similar environment.
