POSITION SUMMARY

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the architecture, planning, execution, and management of the entire AWS global infrastructure. Our team ensures the seamless operation of the cloud environment, supporting all AWS data centers along with the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems that guarantee our clients' uninterrupted access to essential innovations.

Your contributions will help us uphold the highest standards of safety and security while delivering virtually limitless capacity at the most competitive prices for our clients. We foster an inclusive culture that encourages innovative ideas and empowers you to see them through to fruition.

The Core Networking team is seeking a Network Development Engineer to become part of our Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) division. In this role, you will be tasked with constructing, deploying, and scaling the Amazon networks that underpin AWS, our clients, and other business sectors across multiple global data centers.

AWS Core Networking is dedicated to developing Data Centers and the networks that facilitate their efficient operation. We are responsible for the solutions that enable the aggregation of racks and the interconnection of Data Centers. Our objective is to achieve a balance of efficiency, performance, and reliability, ensuring customers can access their applications and data seamlessly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in managing the largest network infrastructure globally.
  • Provide essential network operations support to AWS's internal and external clients, diagnosing, resolving, and troubleshooting large-scale networking incidents.
  • Support and maintain next-generation data center networks.
  • Deliver straightforward, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes to address complex challenges.
  • Collaborate with our broader Technical Operations team to lessen operational burdens by enhancing auto-remediation tools and workflows.
  • Work closely with Network Engineering teams to ensure the swift and smooth implementation of new designs and products.
  • Establish standards across all network layers and ensure compliance with those standards and policies.
  • Oversee and manage communications during large-scale events utilizing an established Event Management process.
  • Collaborate with level two and level-three resolution teams.
  • Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues, focusing on eliminating manual interventions in mitigation activities.
  • Effectively escalate issues to mid and senior-level management for comprehensive resolution.
  • Create and review documentation and processes related to recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Troubleshoot networking, routing, and interconnectivity challenges, including network device configuration and low-level application interactions.
  • Fulfill customer requests through internal trouble ticketing systems.
