ROLE OVERVIEW
The Core Networking team is in search of a Network Development Engineer to become part of our Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) division. In this role, you will be tasked with constructing, deploying, and scaling the Amazon networks that support AWS, our clients, and various business units across multiple global data centers.
AWS Core Networking is dedicated to establishing Data Centers and the networks that enable their efficient operation. We are responsible for the solutions that facilitate the aggregation of racks and the interconnection of Data Centers. Our objective is to achieve a balance of efficiency, performance, and reliability, ensuring customers can access their applications and data seamlessly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage one of the largest networks globally.
- Provide essential network operations support to AWS's internal and external clients, diagnosing, resolving, and troubleshooting large-scale networking incidents.
- Support and maintain our next-generation data center networks.
- Deliver straightforward, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes to address complex challenges.
- Collaborate with our broader Technical Operations team to lessen operational burdens by enhancing auto-remediation tools and workflows.
- Work closely with our Network Engineering teams to ensure the swift and smooth rollout of new designs and products.
- Establish standards across all network layers and ensure compliance with those standards and policies.
- Oversee communications during large-scale events using an established Event Management process and collaborate with level two and level-three resolvers.
- Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues, focusing on eliminating manual actions from mitigation efforts.
- Effectively escalate issues to mid and senior-level management for comprehensive resolution.
- Create and review documentation and processes related to recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, and knowledge transfer materials.
- Troubleshoot networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues, including network device configuration and low-level application interactions.
- Fulfill customer requests through internal trouble ticketing systems.
