Your Opportunity + Impact

The Sr. Designer will apply intermediate to advanced engineering principles to complete design computations, prepare written technical reports, design plans, and details. You'll work in an almost completely autonomous manner and make significant project decisions based upon your level of expertise and manager's approval.

This position requires you to be an expert in using all required software currently used by our firm. You'll work under minimal supervision of project managers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop technically accurate, clean, and deliverable drawings using proficient skills in CAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Microstation, InRoads, Sketch-Up, Photoshop, and other software programs.
  • Review work to ensure accuracy, make corrections to work from red lines, and backcheck.
  • Write specifications, review submittals, coordinate project submission.
  • Coordinate the preparation of advanced multi-discipline drawing sets as required for the assigned project including coordination with technical, administrative, and other design staff.
  • Promote, utilize, and support quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors & omissions.
  • Research, review, interpret, and understand written design standards, regulations, code compliance, and permit requirements and apply them to design projects.
  • Create standard details for projects as directed.
  • Review shop drawings and working drawing submissions from contractors.
  • Assist with and perform design calculations, calculate quantities, review technical specifications, and prepare cost estimates.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is required.
  • A minimum of ten years' job-related experience is required.
  • No certification is needed.
Qualifications
  • You must have a strong desire to expand your knowledge base and undertake new responsibilities. Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook), strong communication, presentation skills, self-motivation, and ability to mentor are necessary.
