About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused individual to join our team as a General Purpose Hand on our Sydney Ferries fleet.

As a General Purpose Hand, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of our passengers, while also contributing to the smooth operation of our vessels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to our passengers, responding to their queries and providing information about routes and timetables.
  • Supervise gangways for boarding and disembarking vessels, ensuring passenger safety.
  • Participate in daily operations, navigation, and GPH duties on TDSF vessels.
  • Conduct safety inspections and provide emergency assistance as required.
  • Ensure vessels and wharves are kept clean and well-maintained.
Requirements
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
  • Certificate I in Maritime Operations (GPH near Coastal).
  • Certificate of Competency (near coastal) card issued by AMSA or Integrated Rating Ticket/Able Seafarer Deck Rating.
  • Demonstrated ability to swim 50 metres or equivalent.
  • Possess a current Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID009/010/011).
