Leadership Position in Perioperative Services

An opportunity has arisen for a seasoned professional to assume a leadership role within our dynamic perioperative department.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional clinical skills, outstanding leadership abilities, and a positive approach to work.

  • Provide expertise and leadership for perioperative services.
  • Plan, commission, implement, and manage ongoing operational activities.
  • Ensure effective leadership and management of the Perioperative Services at Sydney Southwest Private Hospital.

The goal is to align with hospital objectives while delivering cost-efficient nursing services that emphasize exceptional, evidence-based patient care. This will be achieved through visible and accountable leadership, with a strong emphasis on:

  • Providing high-quality and safe services.
  • Fostering collaborative relationships with visiting medical officers.
  • Leading the workforce with energy and effectiveness.
  • Ensuring rigorous financial oversight and operational efficiency.
  • Supporting policies that reflect National Safety and Quality Health Standards (NSQHS), ACORN, Sterilisation Services, and other relevant quality and clinical safety standards.
  • Embedding clinical and corporate governance in daily work practice.
  • Maintaining positive, effective, and responsive working relationships with doctors.
  • Overseeing the effective management of resources, including equipment and theatre utilisation.
  • Monitoring and evaluating equipment needs, use, and maintenance with specialist groups.
  • Coordinating tendering and procurement processes.
  • Providing effective clinical leadership to the Perioperative services team.
  • Ensuring the training and development program meets staff needs.
  • Promoting adherence to Key Performance Indicators.
  • Participating in accreditation processes and leading Quality and Clinical Risk Management initiatives.
  • Contributing to the formulation of strategic direction and related planning.
  • Enhancing operational performance and promoting innovation.
Requirements
  • Current registration with AHPRA.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in nursing.
  • Minimum of 5 years senior nursing experience within the Perioperative unit.
  • High degree of computer literacy.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Previous experience at NUM level or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A strong commitment to developing in a management role.
  • A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer-focused care.
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team environment.
  • Proven time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Demonstrated HR management experience.
  • Leadership and management qualification (or working towards).
