As a key operational leader in drilling and associated activities, this role is critical to ensuring mine safety and production targets are achieved efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage drilling operations according to plan, directed by the Drill & Blast Superintendent, to achieve optimal performance.
  • Implement safe work practices using established business processes and tools, minimizing risks and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Effectively manage shift resources and manning levels for sufficient drilled stock, maximizing efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintain high-quality drill & blast patterns and equipment, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure quality outputs, fostering strong relationships and collaboration.
  • Provide ongoing training and coaching to direct reports, developing their skills and capabilities to meet job requirements.
  • Drive zero-harm drilling techniques and improve performance through data analysis and process optimization.
  • Maintain and review drill consumables, ensuring they are properly managed and replaced as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum C Class Manual Driver's Licence and relevant tickets, demonstrating a commitment to road safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Previous supervisory experience, with a proven ability to read and interpret mine plans, contributing to informed decision-making.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS Act principles and a deep commitment to workplace health and safety, promoting a culture of safety awareness and risk mitigation.
  • Effective communication skills, including relationship building, negotiation, and conflict resolution, essential for successful stakeholder engagement.
  • Understanding of fleet management systems and incident investigation processes, enabling the identification and rectification of potential hazards.
