Supporting Individuals with Disabilities

Pearson Allied Health Services is a registered provider with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), specialising in providing allied health and mentoring services to children, young people and adults with disabilities. We offer flexible services, including sessions in our office, therapy house, farm or community.

Our goal is to provide a person-centred service within a trans-disciplinary team, focusing on animal-assisted services.

The Role

This position seeks experienced staff passionate about working with individuals with disabilities, empowering them to live their best lives. Multiple roles are available for both children and adults, with a focus on passive overnight supports.

Mentoring Role/Allied Health Assistant Role:

Provide mentoring services in clients' homes, schools or day programs, or in the community, including transporting clients. Implement therapy programs and update therapists on progress. Assist with group programs and complete shift notes.

Support Worker Roles:

Available support worker roles include:

  • Supported accommodation
  • Day options or other day-type programs
  • 24/7 client living in the community
  • Community-based personal care services
  • Providing medication to clients (training provided)
  • Level 2 workers who can perform tube/feeding, catheter care and support complex needs (training can be provided)

We welcome applicants with experience in aged care or similar, lived experience with disabilities, a passion for mentoring young people with disabilities and excellent communication skills.

Selection Criteria

To be considered, you must:

  • Currently be studying an allied health degree, nursing degree, education degree or similar
  • Have completed or be working towards a Certificate III or IV in Disabilities or Individual Support
  • Hold a certificate in Allied Health Assistance (AHA)
  • Have a background in aged care or similar
  • Have lived experience with disabilities
  • Have a passion/interest in mentoring young people with disabilities
  • possess good written and verbal communication skills
Minimum Requirements

Successful candidates will require:

  • Through Their Eyes: Child Safe Environments training Certificate
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • South Australia Driver's Licence
  • Experience working within the Disability sector (preferable)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • NDIS New Worker Induction Module
  • NDIS Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals
  • NDIS Supporting Effective Communication
  • First Aid and CPR

Knowledge and Understanding

You will require:

  • Understanding of child safety, legislation and requirements surrounding this
  • Understanding and knowledge of the Privacy Act and relevant confidentiality requirements
  • Understanding of the NDIS Code of Conduct and act in compliance at all times
  • Understanding of Disability Service Standards and relevant legislation
  • Understanding of the United Nations Convention on Human Rights for People with a Disability
