Accessibility Champion Job Description

The Accessibility Champion plays a pivotal role in leading our Access Athletics Program, aiming to build sport capacity and increase participation in athletics for people with a disability. This three-year operational coordination involves enhancing inclusivity and accessibility across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inclusive Environment Development: Enhance inclusive environments in athletics, making them accessible, safe, and welcoming for people with disabilities.
  • Awareness and Participation Growth: Increase awareness and participation in athletics among people with disabilities.
  • Product Delivery and Review: Support the delivery and review of athletics products, events, and competitions, aligning with key objectives.
  • Program Promotion: Promote our programs and initiatives within the athletics community and broader Western Australian community.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise with stakeholders, organisations, and working groups as required.
Key Duties
  • Program Delivery: Deliver planned programs and activities to achieve defined outcomes.
  • Budget Management: Manage program budgets, aligning with strategic plans and available resources.
  • Club and Centre Collaboration: Collaborate with clubs and centres to develop tailored plans fostering inclusive environments.
  • Coach and Official Development: Implement initiatives supporting coach and official development, enabling more inclusive practices.
  • Term-Based Programs: Coordinate term-based programs across multiple venues, ensuring accessibility.
  • Relationship Maintenance: Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including government authorities and relevant partners.
  • Policy Implementation: Assist in policy development and implementation, collaborating with the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with members, staff, and stakeholders.
