Research Director

Join the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) as a Research Director and play a key role in shaping the future of agricultural research in the Indo-Pacific region.
About the RoleThe Research Director will lead a team of research program managers and administrative staff to design and deliver research investments in line with ACIAR's Strategic Plan and Investment Framework and Australia's International Development Policy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a team to design and deliver research investments
- Setting direction and targets for the team
- Implementing ACIAR's policies and procedures
- Contributing to ACIAR's strategic engagement with Australia's agricultural innovation system
- Ensuring effective and efficient expenditure
- Establishing and maintaining robust networks with research institutions in partner countries
- Providing expert advice to ACIAR and Australian government bodies
- Influencing the development of research policies and strategies within ACIAR
To be successful in this role, you will need:

The Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) is an independent agency within the Australian Government Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio.
Our mission is to catalyse more productive, sustainable and resilient food and farming systems for the benefit of developing countries and Australia.
We do this through brokering, funding and managing research partnerships between Australian scientists and developing countries, and investing in multilateral international agricultural research.
Operating under the ACIAR Act 1982, we are a specialist element of Australia's overseas development assistance program, fostering international agricultural research and development partnerships for more sustainable agricultural systems, higher incomes and strengthened food security in partner countries.
