About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Geologist to lead our Mine Engineering & Geology team. As a Senior Geologist, you will collaborate with talented professionals on iconic projects to deliver future-ready outcomes that benefit clients and communities.

The role will be based in Perth, offering hybrid working arrangements.

Our Mining Team

WSP's Mining team provides comprehensive solutions to optimise performance, boost profitability, and operate responsibly. Our understanding of the mining industry includes decarbonisation strategies, which are critical to addressing current issues and capitalising on opportunities.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring on complex mining and geological issues to clients and internal staff;
  • Engage in business development and client acquisition activities to ensure continuous work;
  • Offer expert advice to project teams across various technical disciplines and commodities;
  • Prepare tenders, proposals, and reports for both internal and external clients;
  • Supervise and review activities undertaken by junior staff;
  • Liaise with specialists from other disciplines and offices within WSP;
  • Lead safety initiatives to identify and mitigate high-priority hazards;
  • Mentor and develop staff to achieve their long-term career objectives and operational needs;
  • Ensure all work meets company, client, and government requirements, policies, procedures, regulations, and standards.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or a related field;
  • Experience in industry-accepted mine planning and geology software packages (e.g., Vulcan, Leapfrog, Surpac, or Datamine) is highly desirable;
  • Relevant experience within a mining environment will be highly regarded;
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team;
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent attention to detail;
  • An advanced level of computer literacy and data analysis capabilities;
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external clients;
  • Effective communication skills, strong report writing abilities, and problem-solving capacity.
