Therapeutic Specialist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Therapeutic Specialist to join our team at MacKillop Family Services Limited. As a Therapeutic Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting young people who have experienced trauma and complex needs.

About the Role

This is an ongoing part-time opportunity, working 19 hours per week, based in Geelong. As a Therapeutic Specialist, you will be responsible for developing therapeutic strategies and plans for each individual young person, guiding our staff through the implementation of these strategies, and providing support to assist our young people in expanding their strengths to facilitate healing and recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement therapeutic strategies and plans for young people
  • Guide staff in the implementation of therapeutic strategies
  • Provide support to young people to expand their strengths and facilitate healing and recovery
  • Collaborate with a team of seasoned experts to provide high-quality therapeutic services
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline
  • Postgraduate training in relevant child, adolescent, and family clinical practice, family work, and systemic thinking
  • A thorough understanding of the impact of trauma, disrupted attachment, and abuse/neglect on a child or young person's development and wellbeing
  • Substantial experience in working therapeutically with young people and demonstrated capacity to persevere to achieve positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and CALD cultures to provide culturally sensitive and effective care for young people
  • Valid and current Driver's License; Satisfactory Criminal History Check; Valid Employee Working with Children Check; Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check
