About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at headspace in Cranbourne West Secondary. As a key member of our team, you will work with students to ensure they can successfully engage and participate in their education through classroom and other school-based activities.

The successful applicant will possess highly effective collaboration skills to liaise with multiple stakeholders, including Child protection, tertiary services, Youth Justice, and other mental health community services. They will be skilled in various therapies and behavioral interventions to effectively support students.

Key responsibilities include identifying sensory processing and/or sensory modulation difficulties, creating class implementation plans for teachers to respond to, teaching emotional regulation skills to students, and facilitating social skills training and communication skills training (individual and groups).

This is an ongoing part-time position with flexible working days, offering a competitive salary and generous benefits package.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and AHPRA registration
  • Solid knowledge of current theory and practice in occupational therapy
  • Highly developed listening and communication skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage own workload and set priorities without supervision
  • Knowledge of typical and atypical childhood development
  • Capacity to engage and form positive relationships with children, particularly children with developmental differences
