As an Animal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting veterinarians and ensuring the highest standards of animal wellbeing and care are maintained. You will be responsible for providing medical support to our team and ensuring that all animals in our care receive the best possible treatment.
- Administer medications accurately to ensure the health and wellbeing of animals in our care
- Monitor animals for signs of injury, illness, or behavioural issues and report any concerns to the veterinary team
- Assist with veterinary examinations and perform medical procedures as required to provide high-quality care to our patients
- Prepare and assist with medical procedures, including X-rays, to help diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries
- Perform nursing routines such as fluid therapy, blood sampling, and pre-operation preparations to ensure animals receive the best possible care
- Provide environmental enrichment and exercise for animals to promote their physical and mental health
- Assist with surgical nursing routines, including dental procedures, sterilisation, and anesthesia, to provide safe and effective care
- Conduct lab tests and maintain equipment to ensure that it is in good working order and can be used to provide the best possible care to our patients
This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a thorough knowledge of veterinary nursing procedures. If you have a Certificate IV in Vet Nursing or a relevant qualification and previous experience as a vet nurse, we would love to hear from you.
