Job Overview:

We are seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead projects in Australia.

This is a key role responsible for managing projects from concept to delivery.

You will help shape innovative engineering solutions and mentor junior team members.

Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge of Australian building codes, standards, and regulations.

The successful candidate will oversee the mechanical design and coordination of projects, including data centres, commercial offices, retail, and hospitality developments.

Their designs must comply with Australian codes and regulations, client specifications, and best practice in sustainable design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing mechanical system designs including HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, and BMS/controls integration
  • Conducting site inspections, testing, and reporting on mechanical services installations
  • Engaging with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Supporting the preparation of design documentation, specifications, tender submissions, and technical reports
  • Mentoring and providing technical oversight to graduates and junior engineers
  • Participating in internal technical reviews and ensuring quality assurance processes are met

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (essential)
  • Chartered Engineer (CPEng) status or working towards (desirable)
  • Membership with Engineers Australia (or eligibility)
  • Minimum 6+ years' experience in mechanical building services engineering, preferably in a consultancy setting
  • Solid understanding of the Australian construction and development landscape, including contractor liaison and site coordination
  • Demonstrated proficiency with industry software including AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical calculation tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to manage budgets, timelines, and scope
