Workday HCM Principal Consultant Job Description

The ideal candidate will serve as a bridge between the business and technical teams, solving complex Workday intersystem problems. This role guides clients through transformation, implementation, and operation phases of a Workday HCM solution.

  • Become an expert in Workday HCM and Learning products with knowledge of design, configuration, testing, and implementation.
  • Recommend the best solutions based on client requirements, timelines, and flexibility to adapt scope as needed.
  • Guide clients through facilitated design sessions and configuration decisions based on best practices and unique business needs at all stages of the project.
  • Regularly engage and support clients through all phases of the project, ensuring smooth transfer from legacy systems to Workday HCM solution.
  • Perform multiple tasks under limited direction, keeping clients, project teams, and engagement managers informed of changes or progress.
  • Work alongside integration teams to configure and test integrations between Workday solution and selected payroll and benefits providers.
  • Take leadership positions on projects or as Collaborative or Workday Product Partners.
  • Display hands-on expertise of software, including loading customer data, moving configuration between tenants, and configuring business processes and security.
  • Utilize technical aptitude to convert and map data sources into data conversion templates via iLoads.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Human Resources Management, HRIS, or related field.
  • 2+ years of Workday HCM and Learning functional implementation experience, highly desired.
  • 2-5 years of Human Resources, Payroll, or Financial software experience, required.
  • 2-5 years implementing functional solutions with ERP or SaaS software, highly desired.
  • Experience gathering business requirements, designing and prototyping, testing and implementing practical business solutions under multiple deadlines.
  • Demonstrated functional experience in Human Resources, Payroll, or Financials Management.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, effectively managing customer expectations.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint programs.
