Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Trades Assistant to become a valuable member of our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in dismantling vehicles
  • Conduct daily inspections of vehicle hoists
  • Support dismantlers in identifying parts for extraction from various vehicle makes and models
  • Adhere to established operating procedures
  • Safely drain fluids to prevent spills, ensuring cleanliness before transitioning to the next task
  • Test and clean parts as necessary
  • Sort parts for recycling and place them in designated areas, including batteries, tyres, catalytic converters, and wiring
  • Manage recycling of core stock
  • Document activities on dismantling sheets as required
  • Maintain cleanliness in the dismantling area for subsequent tasks
  • Ensure tools are maintained properly

Additional Tasks for Vehicle Dismantlers

  • Utilize hand and power tools to remove body panels, bumper bars, steering wheels, seats, and other reusable components
  • Assist in disassembling engines, transmission systems, electrical components, wheels, brakes, and other parts for inventory or sale
  • Clean, inspect, test, and organize parts for resale readiness
  • Label parts for inventory or shipping purposes
  • Transport vehicle components using forklifts or cranes
  • Comply with Environmental Protection Authority regulations regarding hazardous material disposal
  • Fulfill sales orders by removing individual items
  • Transport vehicles to hoists
  • Secure engines and transmissions on pallets for transport while maintaining a tidy workspace
  • Complete relevant documentation, such as dismantling reports that detail parts to be removed and tagged
  • Perform other related tasks as needed

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Possesses mechanical knowledge of vehicles
  • Forklift license (preferred)
  • Owns personal tools (preferred)
  • Demonstrates safe and efficient work practices
  • Exhibits strong time management and organizational skills
