About the Role

The Department of Education is seeking a highly skilled Senior Policy Officer to join our Early Childhood Education Quality Assurance and Regulatory Services (QARS) directorate. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in leading improvement strategies to ensure regulatory requirements are embedded into early childhood education sector policy and practice.

You will provide high-level strategic advice on a range of issues to support best practice regulation of NSW early childhood education and care services. Your expertise will help shape the future of early childhood education in NSW, ensuring that our services are of the highest quality and meet the needs of our children and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policy and procedural frameworks to support the regulation of early childhood education and care services.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on policy and regulatory issues affecting the early childhood education sector.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address gaps in policy and practice, ensuring that our services are responsive to the needs of children and families.
  • Lead the development of regulatory frameworks and guidelines to support the delivery of high-quality early childhood education and care services.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
  • A valid Working with Children Check clearance for paid employment.
  • Experience in state or federal government policy development.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, such as Law, Early Childhood Teaching, and/or Communications.
