Job Title: Water Management Leadership Role

About the Job

The Director of Water Planning is a key leadership position that oversees the development, analysis, and implementation of regulatory, legislative, and policy frameworks for water management.

This role involves leading a multidisciplinary team to achieve strategic objectives, contributing to the development and review of water plans, and engaging with stakeholders at all levels.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team to deliver water planning and implementation of science functions in the North Region.
  • Develop and review water plans, including Ministerial Reports, for the North Region.
  • Undertake technical assessments and stakeholder engagement to plan for further water needs.
  • Engage with Commonwealth agencies on accredited water resource plans.
  • Represent the department at state and national water initiatives and forums.
  • Deliver science-related programs to support water planning and intergovernmental agreements.

Key Requirements:

  • Possess expert knowledge of water planning principles and practices.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Hold a relevant degree and/or certification in a field related to water planning.
