Two exciting Water Officer opportunities (Water Monitoring and Hydrography) are available to you in the South Region's Water Monitoring team, one each in Toowoomba and Brisbane.
In this exciting and uniquely varying role, you will provide the hydrometric data that is relied upon to inform decisions about the sustainable management of the State's water resources. You will operate and maintain a network of remote surface and groundwater monitoring assets, planning and conducting extensive fieldwork, then in the office you will analyse, process and publish the data produced to Departmental specifications and quality standards.

You will demonstrate strong personal leadership and positivity, teamwork, collaboration, and technical aptitude. You will be provided training, mentoring and the support of your team. This position will require extensive overnight travel to remote locations across southern Queensland.

**Key Duties and Accountabilities**:

- Operate and maintain remote surface and groundwater networks and assets - Collect hydrometric data remotely and in the field, including water sampling and by conducting stream flow measurements.
- Install, maintain, calibrate and repair technical equipment and assets associated with water monitoring data collection.
- Compute, process, store, manipulate and retrieve ground water and surface water data.
- Participate in short and medium-term water related projects as required.
- Maintain a high level of personal and team safety within the guidelines of safe practices and procedures.
- Interact with other water functional groups, managers, departmental staff and clients.
- Other duties as directed and required.
