Video Engineering Leadership Opportunity

This is a challenging and rewarding leadership role that involves overseeing the development of Canva's video platform.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience leading engineering teams, particularly in the multimedia domain. They will be responsible for driving the architecture and execution of the next-gen video rendering stack across native and web platforms.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical credibility, excellent stakeholder management skills, and a proven track record of managing large engineering organizations.

We are looking for a leader who can foster engineering excellence, mentor engineers, and build systems that scale across millions of users.

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of experienced engineers to deliver high-impact tech solutions.

  • Collaborating with product and design teams to translate creative needs into platform capabilities.

  • Owning and delivering a major evolution in Canva's video technology strategy.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Technical Expertise:

  • Deep knowledge of video codecs, rendering pipelines, and cross-platform systems.

  • Experience with WASM and native engine technologies.

  • Leadership Experience:

  • Proven track record of managing large engineering orgs (15+), including staff engineers and Engineering Managers.

  • Strong stakeholder management experience and ability to influence technical direction at scale.
